About Matthew Moore

Matthew Moore at Mixing Desk

Matthew Moore is a multi-talented composer and performer.

He began learning the  piano at a young age, developing an interest in the style of the great romantic pianists and also in jazz.

He went on to study piano, clarinet and composition at university, winning first prize in the 1998 concerto competition.

As a jazz pianist, Matthew has played all over Europe both as a soloist and in various ensembles.

An interest in multi-track recording also began in his youth and this led to him working for seven years as a location recording engineer in London. During this time, he developed skills in producing high quality recordings with a special focus on stereo recording techniques.  These production skills are evident in his compositions, particularly in his ability to make sample sounds emulate real instruments with often uncanny accuracy.

He has lectured on music and music technology, and taught classical and jazz piano.

Recent projects include music for Randka w ciemno, a Polish feature film and a documentary for Channel 4, Around the World in 80 Trades.

He has written two orchestral library music albums and has composed and arranged pieces for the London Philharmonic Orchestra and A&C Black.

Matthew also works as part of The Dublounge, a music production company that includes Paul Pritchard, Graham Preskett and Tom Ashton.

In his spare time he often worries if F sharps should be a different colour.
